Unorganized beaches of Andros and natural. For free lying in the sun and peacefulness visit the beaches of Vlychada, Fellos and Kaminaki at the west side of Andros, the beaches of Kypri, Stivari and Plaka at the northwest part of the island. Also the beaches of Gialia, the one with pebbles and the other with sand, along with Achla, are at the north side of the island. One of the most beautiful unorganized beaches of Andros is the Chalkolimionas beach. It is a long sandy bay with turquoise waters at the west side of Andros with easy access. Swimming and Sightseeing. At the beach of Pyrgos, you will see the Venetian castle of Makrotantalos. Batsi Village in Andros: A picturesque village by the sea renowned for the organized beach, the beautiful bay and the water sports facilities. The village of Batsi is a lively spot on the island of Andros combining tourist facilities with the unique local architecture and a traditional allure.

Gavrio Village in Andros. Gavrio is actually the main port of Andros island. This is a village that has been transformed from a quite fishing village to a fully developed tourist destination in the island of Andros. Sandy beaches are located close to the village where the main attractions include the Tower of Agios Petros and the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi.

Menites Village in Andros. This is a small village famous for its spring and nature. Trees, flowers are creating beautiful scenery, where Menites is the starting point for hiking to the main attractions of the island like the Paleopolis for the archaeological site and the village of Lamyra to see the sophisticated mansions. Close to Menites is the village of Mesathouri with its stunning views and the lovely nature to walk and feel the sensations that Andros has to offer.

Korthi Village in Andros: Located on the southern part of Andros Island the village of Korthi has plenty of proposals for cafes, restaurants along with beautiful beaches. On your way to Korthi and the surrounding villages, you will see dovecotes, old churches and windmills. The area features also three beautiful beaches, the famous Tis Grias to Pidima among them. When you are visiting Korthi, do not miss a stop to the villages of Kochilou to see the Castles and the village of Sineti for the amazing views.

Stenies Village in Andros. The village of Stenies in Andros Island is one of the most beautiful villages on the island. The traditional products of Andros

The island of Andros has a series of traditional products made for centuries in the very same way! Today we thought of nibbling on some of them. The cheese, the sweets and the drinks made only in Andros that can be found and tasted in the restaurant of Aegea Blue Cycladic Resort or you can buy them and take these unique flavours with you! So, with the help of a spoon, fork or a knife get ready to taste:

The Kopanisti cheese. After a complicated procedure, the spread cheese called kopanisti has a full and spicy taste that is great to taste as an appetizer with freshly made bread and tomatoes along with a glass of wine or ouzo.

The Petroti cheese. A salt free cheese that is better to taste freshly made from goats or cow’s milk.

The Volakia cheese. This is the salted version of petroti cheese. The volakia have the shape of small balls and can be tasted plain or as an appetizer.

The Kalathoti cheese. The difference between kalathoti and volakia cheese is the shape, as the kalathoti is aged in a basket.

The honey of Andros. Light and delicious, the honey of Andros is used to make the pasteli, a sweet made with sesame and honey. You can taste the honey of Andros at the breakfast buffet of Aegea Blue Cycladic Resort.

The Sinetiano wine. The traditional wine of Andros made with sun dried grapes is bursting with flavour.

Hiking / Trails

The Aegea Resort is situated in the North-East region of the island which is characterized by unspoiled nature and offers unique paths for hiking as well as excursions by car and boat. The land and wild-life of Aegea and Zorgos is designated as a preserved park by the Hellenic State.

Aphrodite’s baths (40 minutes each way)

A path of approximately 2 Km by the river leads to a natural river basin where, according to tradition, the goddess Aphrodite took her bath. It is a unique biotope of great beauty with fresh-water crabs, turtles, and other species. It is an excellent bird-watching spot and at specific periods in the summer is ideal for eel-fishing.

Twin holes (40 minutes each way)

This path of approximately 2.5 Km begins from the entrance of Aegea Resort and passes along the upper ridge of the hill and leading through a long cave of about 60 m to two large holes opening on the sheer cliff-face 30 m above the sea and looking out towards the Aegean

Microgiali bay (60 minutes each way)

Close to the end of the path to the twin holes is a turning towards a proto-Cycladic settlement and the bay of Microgiali, a small isolated sandy beach protected from the North end by the Kambano prominence. By virtue of its position,Microgiali beach is enjoyed almost exclusively by the residents of Aegea. It provides excellent fishing and spear-fishing.

Old water mills (60 minutes each way)

A shady riverside pathway of about 1.5 Km under a canopy of chestnut trees takes you to a village of 14 deserted water-mills from the last century. In addition to the spectacular natural and man-made waterfalls, one can admire the mechanics of the water-mills themselves. Recently, access to this site was facilitated so that it is now accessible even to small children. It is a highly recommended visit.

Tradition and purity is the basic aspect of our gastronomic philosophy

Inspired by the unspoiled and carefully protected natural environment in which our hotel is situated we have decided to take maximum advantage of the local fresh produce. In close collaboration with our local farmers, fishermen and shepherds we have created a fresh, nutritious menu that incorporates many of the old traditional recipes, some nearly lost in time. Using all the products that the land generously provides us, our chef adds new delicacies to our menu on a daily basis according to the fresh ingredients that can be found.

Location & Access

AEGEA-ZORGOS bay is situated on the North-East coastline of Andros in the foothills of the pre-historic castle of Vryokastro and close to the pro-Cycladic settlement at neighboring Microgiali Bay. Facing AEGEA across the Aegean Sea is Ephessus in Minor Asia.

AEGEA occupies the delta of the local river, which receives water from the mountains of North Andros, and sustains a unique biotope and reserve. The orientation of the land protects AEGEA from North winds and offers a very pleasant microclimate. The area was recently characterized by the Hellenic Republic as one of “extreme natural beauty and strict preservation”and this further ensures its preservation. Sea excursions & Fishing

Sea cave

At about half-mile along the coast from Aegea beach is a large sea cave that is formed by a fault in the sheer rock face and can be entered by boat. The depths of the water are blue-mauve because of the numerous shellfish and cold fresh water drips from the ceiling.  The surrounding area is a shelter for migratory birds.

Porto Koundouros

Navigating South for about a mile from the sea cave and passing sheer high rock-faces one comes upon a small opening which leads into a small protected natural port between the rocks with the remains of an ancient settlement. By virtue of its natural shape and narrow entrance, this is a paradise for net fishing even for beginners.

Microgiali Bay

Navigating North for about a mile from Aegea beach one comes across a small, breathtakingly beautiful sandy beachwith a proto-Cycladic settlement, Microgiali bay. This is one of the best places for spear-fishing amongst the numerous submerged sea rocks and cliffs. By virtue of its position, Microgiali beach is enjoyed almost exclusively by the residents of Aegea.

 Reef

About 1.5 miles out to sea due East from Aegea beach lies a reef of 2 Km long in the blue waters. Here gather multitudes of fish that can be caught even without bait. The site of this reef is a closely kept secret by the locals and visitors are taken there in confidence.
